Job summary

Virginia Tech National Security Institute (VTNSI) in Blacksburg/Arlington is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to support HR operations across locations. Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent level of training/experience.
• Experience in administrative/office support: records management, scheduling, recruitment coordination, onboarding, offboarding, HR transactions, or employee records.
• Experience with databases/enterprise systems and accurate data entry/records.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with discretion.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficient in standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations).
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• U.S. Person: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and operational HR support across the employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, transactions, records).
• Coordinate recruitment activities and candidate communications for VTNSI.
• Maintain accurate, compliant personnel records and HR data in university systems.
• Support onboarding, offboarding and employee transitions.
• Assist with training, development, and HR initiatives; collaborate with HR colleagues and central HR.
