Job summary

SB Energy in the San Francisco Bay Area, Denver, CO, or San Diego, CA is seeking an experienced HR Operations Manager to lead payroll, compensation and policies for a fast-growing organization.

The role partners with Finance, Legal, and leaders to deliver accurate, compliant, and employee-friendly programs, with a focus on scalable, data-driven HR operations in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive HR or People Operations experience with hands-on payroll, compensation, compliance, or HR operations.
• Strong knowledge of payroll, compensation, employment compliance, and employee lifecycle processes.
• Experience managing HR systems (Paylocity preferred), vendors, data, reporting, audits, and controls.
• Proven ability to build scalable processes while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and strong employee service.
• Strong project management, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Sound judgment, attention to detail, and effectiveness in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Responsibilities

• Payroll & HR Operations: own end-to-end payroll, vendor management, audits, issue resolution and process improvement.
• Manage employee lifecycle processes: onboarding, changes, leaves, offboarding, and records.
• Develop scalable policies, controls, service standards, and documentation.
• Suppport compensation structures, salary ranges, benchmarking, and annual reviews.
• Administer incentives and coordinate with Finance on planning, approvals, and reporting.
• Maintain HR systems, data governance, reporting, and privacy protection.
• Collaborate with Legal, IT, Finance and business leaders to align people processes.
