Join our Team: Part-Time HR Manager

Pepper’s Personal Assistants is a Seattle-based company on a mission to bring calm to the chaos for busy professionals through trusted, high-touch personal assistant services. We’re a small but mighty team, and we’re looking for an experienced HR Manager to join us part-time to own and lead our people operations with confidence, care, and compliance.

This is a remote role, though we ask that you reside in the Seattle metro area to attend 2–3 in-person company meetings per year.

What You’ll Do

As our sole HR professional, you’ll serve as a trusted partner to leadership and our growing team, managing the full scope of HR responsibilities including:

  • Overseeing the full employee lifecycle—from onboarding to offboarding
  • Managing and improving HR policies, handbooks, and compliance practices
  • Administering payroll (via Paylocity), benefits, and employee records
  • Supporting recruitment, offer letters, reference checks, and new hire setup
  • Coaching managers on performance, employee relations, and engagement
  • Ensuring our team culture stays strong, values-aligned, and legally sound

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of well-rounded HR experience, ideally in a small business or startup environment
  • HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or aPHR are a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of Washington state employment law
  • Experience processing payroll (we use Paylocity)
  • Ability to work independently, wear many hats, and help re-build people processes
  • Warm, clear communication style—you balance people-first thinking with operational excellence
  • Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems
  • Experience with benefits administration and payroll processes
  • Located in the Seattle metro area
