Job summary

Trojan Battery Company in Sandersville, GA is seeking a Manager, Human Resources to lead the plant HR function, including wage and salary programs, benefits, staffing, training and labor relations.

This role requires eight years of HR generalist experience with knowledge of OSHA/EPA/EEO/AAP training and strong communication, plus union relations experience; SPHR preferred. The position emphasizes driving a culture focused on EH&S and compliance.

Qualifications

• BS degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• Eight years direct Human Resources Generalist experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, ADA, EEO, AAP Training, employee relations and labor relations.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to relocate to all levels of employees.
• Experience in Union and Labor Relations.
• SPHR Certification within 2 years of hire date and maintain ongoing certification thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Establish an effective working relationship with management and employees to resolve problems and promote efficient work practices
• In union plants, handle first through third steps in grievance procedure.
• Assist in fourth step grievances, handling arbitration, and contract negotiations
• Monitor payroll, insurance claims, and unemployment claims to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines and procedures
• Administer staffing, promotion and transfer of employees to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and union contract
• Represent Company at unemployment hearings
• Develop and facilitate appropriate employee training for employee development and safety
• Develop an annual Affirmitive Action Plan
• Responsible for personnel and benefits records, employee orientation and information update
• Active participation in SHRM or other professional organization
• Maintain staffing levels necessary to support plant operating objectives
• Administrative/clerical personnel, including HR specialists or assistants, payroll clerks and receptionist
• Decisions made or actions taken on own authority
• Staffing recommendations
• Employee problem solving and counseling; benefit administration
• Decisions/actions that require support of associates or higher approval
• Changes to plant or corporate policy and procedures
• New training programs
• Partnering to drive a culture promoting EH&S

Position Overview

Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the Human Resources Function of the plant. Areas of responsibility include administer wage and salary programs, administer local benefit program, staffing, training, employee and/or labor relations, AAP and EEO compliance.

Areas of Focus

This role will strongly partner with driving a culture supporting Environmental, Health and Safety.

Basic Qualifications
