Job summary

gategroup seeks an experienced HR Business Partner to align HR strategy with business objectives across operating units in the Florida region. You will work with General Managers to implement HR programs and support workforce planning, performance, and compliance.

The role requires strong labor/employee relations, talent acquisition support, union collaboration, and cross-functional partnership in a full-time exempt capacity. Proficiency in HR analytics and policy interpretation is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required.
  • 5 years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles, with at least 2 years in Labor Relations and Employee Relations.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing HR staff.
  • Experience recruiting in transportation, hospitality, manufacturing or food service environment highly desirable.
  • Union experience highly desirable.
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with General Manager of operating unit to understand business objectives and identify HR needs; implements HR strategy to support business objectives.
  • Supports union environment and works with union reps.
  • Partners with Operations and other key functions to develop programs that support employee retention.
  • Helps drive division-wide HR strategy, programs and processes into units.
  • Partners with operations and training functions to identify training needs and provide input on training approaches and content.
  • Partners with operations and recruiting functions to identify and understand workforce needs; may participate in recruiting union hourly employees and support recruitment for exempt and non-exempt positions.
  • Serves as primary employee and labor relations manager to mediate and resolve employee disputes and union grievances for kitchen.
  • Provides counseling/training for unit management in labor/employee relations, EEO, affirmative action and discrimination.
  • Provides policy interpretation and ensures consistent application of policies and laws; responds to employment-related claims.

Annual Hiring Range/Hourly Rate: $85,000 Per Year

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Partners with General Manager of operating unit to understand business objectives and identify corresponding human resource needs; implements human resources strategy to support business objectives
  • Supporting Union environment and working with union reps
  • Partners with Operations and other key functions to develop programs that support employee retention.
  • Helps drive division-wide human resources strategy, programs and processes into units

  • Partners with operations and recruiting functions to identify and understand workforce needs; may be required to actively participate in recruiting union hourly employees and support recruitment for exempt and non-exempt positions.

  • Provides counseling/training for unit management in the areas of labor/employee relations, EEO, affirmative action and discrimination.
  • Provides policy interpretation and ensures accurate and consistent application of all company policies and procedures, and related local, state and federal laws, and applicable collective bargaining agreement(s).
  • Receives and responds to employment-related claims from various government or public agencies; recommends settlement or defense based on actual investigation of facts.
  • Accomplishes human resources and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required.
Work Experience:
  • 5 years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles, with at least 2 years of experience in Labor Relations and Employee Relations.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing HR staff.
  • Experience recruiting in transportation, hospitality, manufacturing or food service environment highly desirable.
Union Experience:
  • Highly Desirable.

Candidate Requirements:

Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, and be highly organized, action oriented and collaborative. Must also have proficiency in all areas of EEO/Tile VII compliance including expertise in investigating and formally responding to Title VII charges. Must have strong computer and database application skills (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Accomplishes human resources and organization mission by completing related results as needed. PHR/SPHR is preferred. Must understand LOA, FMLA, ADA leaves and process.

Language / Communication Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication skills; must also be good listener.

Travel %:

If responsible for multiple units, must be able to travel frequently between assigned units in the designated geographic area; Ability to travel up to an additional 10% of time.

Work Environment / Requirements of the Job:

Regularly, stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts. In a normal production kitchen facility there may be physical discomfort due to temperature and noise. Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
