Job summary

Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF) in Long Beach, CA, is seeking an experienced HR Generalist / Employee Relations Specialist to support employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR operations at our corporate office. You will work closely with managers and staff to maintain a positive, compliant employee experience.

The role focuses on employee relations, benefits and leave administration, and HR operations, requiring strong communication and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, and employment law compliance.
  • Experience administering FMLA, disability leaves, and workplace accommodations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations & Compliance: conduct workplace investigations and assist with resolving employee concerns.

RHF is seeking a Human Resources Generalist / Employee Relations Specialist to join our Human Resources team at our Corporate Office in Long Beach, CA .


This role provides broad HR support with a focus on employee relations, benefits and leave administration, compliance, and HR operations . The ideal candidate is knowledgeable, approachable, organized, and comfortable handling sensitive employee matters while partnering with managers and employees across the organization.


What You’ll Do

Employee Relations & Compliance



  • Conduct workplace investigations and assist with resolving employee concerns.

  • Partner with managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and corrective action.

  • Assist with HR policies, employee communications, and compliance training.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience administering FMLA, disability leaves, and workplace accommodations.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.


Preferred Qualifications


  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.

  • Experience with UKG.

  • Experience supporting a multi-site workforce.

  • Experience in nonprofit, senior living, healthcare, affordable housing, or property management environments.


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronically.

  • Ability to occasionally move throughout the corporate office and attend meetings as needed.
