Job summary

Southern Foodservice Management Inc is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support day-to-day human resources operations at the Fort Lee location. You will be the primary contact for employees and managers, handling employee relations, leave administration, workers’ compensation, compliance, onboarding, and training.

The role collaborates with HR leadership and operations to ensure policy consistency, retention, and compliance, while maintaining confidentiality and sound judgment in handling

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations and HR case management.
• Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, unemployment, wage and hour, and general employment practices.
• Experience with an HRIS and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to travel locally between assigned locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
• Conduct initial employee-relations intake, fact-finding, and documentation for routine concerns.
• Assist with investigations, performance management, coaching, attendance, conduct, and corrective action.
• Maintain employee-relations case documentation and provide updates to the HR Manager.
• Escalate complex matters to HR leadership as needed.
• Administer FMLA and other leaves, including eligibility and return-to-work processes.
• Coordinate workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work follow-up.
• Review turnover data and conduct exit interviews to identify retention trends.
• Support unemployment claims and routine HR compliance audits.
• Assist with onboarding, training, and employee information maintenance in HR systems.
