Job description

Description

The HR Generalist plays a vital dual role in driving operational alignment and providing comprehensive on-site administrative support in a fast-paced, 24/7 plant environment. This position acts as a strategic partner to plant leadership, production supervisors, and maintenance teams, helping connect workforce decisions directly to safety, quality, productivity, labor costs, and overall facility goals. Additionally, the HR Generalist ensures seamless day-to-day facility and office operations through efficient administration, scheduling, and workflow management.

Requirements

  • Partner directly with Plant Managers, Production Supervisors, Maintenance, and facility leadership to align talent and workforce decisions with safety, quality, schedule, productivity, labor costs, and operational outcomes.

  • Maintain a regular, practical operating cadence across assigned shifts and production areas, scaling time and attention based on production cycles, headcount scale, leadership capability, labor conditions, and business risk.

  • Coach front-line leaders to set clear expectations, provide timely feedback, address performance/conduct issues, and take ownership of daily people leadership—building supervisor capability and reducing dependency on HR.

  • Support plant transitions and major changes (such as line expansions, shift restructuring, seasonal ramps, production scaling, and line launches) through comprehensive staffing plans, onboarding readiness, talent movement, effective communication, and the retention of critical technical capabilities.

  • Collaborate with leaders on talent selection, development, succession planning, and deployment for pivotal facility roles, including production supervisors, engineering talent, and skilled maintenance or craft-adjacent positions.

  • Handle employee relations matters and workplace investigations with sound judgment, consistency, appropriate urgency, and alignment with company policies and labor agreements (where applicable).

  • Support leaders in strengthening plant and shift culture, communication, accountability, and employee engagement while reinforcing a safe, respectful, and principle-based work environment.

  • Partner with the HR Manager and Operations Management to deliver coordinated solutions tailored to a fast-paced or 24/7 plant environment, sharing insights across shifts and facilities to improve repeatable shop-floor practices.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to understand manufacturing or industrial plant dynamics, production cycles, and operational metrics.

  • Strong ability to build credibility, trust, and rapport quickly with both shop-floor employees and plant leadership.

  • Sound judgment in handling sensitive employee relations issues, conflict resolution, compliance matters, and investigations with discretion, urgency, and consistency.

  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail in document tracking, file management, and workflow administration.

  • Proficiency in scheduling, managing complex calendars (such as MSW), and coordinating meetings, room setups, travel, and vendor services.
