Human Resources (HR) Generalist – The Dinerstein Companies – Houston, TX

The HR Generalist provides comprehensive human resources support across various functions including recruitment, onboarding, payroll support, benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations. This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth HR operations and maintaining a positive employee experience.

Core Responsibilities
  • Assist with posting job openings, candidate screening updates, preparing offer letters, maintaining offer letter documentation, and ensuring compliance with pay transparency requirements.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding processes, including intake forms and I-9 employment eligibility verification.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in both digital and paper formats, ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and proper record retention.
  • Manage the HR inbox and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, labor law posting requirements, and HR policy updates.
  • Monitor work visa expiration dates and maintain related documentation to ensure ongoing employment eligibility.
  • Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and other compliance initiatives.
General Support
  • Help administer employee benefits programs and support payroll-related processes and inquiries.
  • Coordinate and maintain documentation for leave programs, including FMLA, Workers' Compensation, and Leave of Absence.
  • Process employment verification requests and maintain supporting records.
  • Track employee development plans, performance reviews, and training compliance through systems such as Grace Hill.

Prepare and distribute payroll variance reports to management, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies.

  • Prepare and distribute weekly HR reports and workforce metrics to management.
  • May require occasional travel for HR-related onboarding, employee events, training, or other business needs.
Employee Relations
  • Respond to and appropriately address employee relations concerns while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Support conflict resolution efforts, employee engagement initiatives, and HR best practices.
  • Assist with performance management activities, including Performance Improvement Plans, corrective action documentation, coaching records, and related communications.

Manage employee offboarding processes, including termination notices, separation communications, exit documentation, and communication of trends and recommendations to HR leadership.

  • Utilize HRIS platforms to maintain employee data, generate reports, and support organizational decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate records related to employee relations matters, investigations, corrective actions, and separations.
Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred

1–3 years of HR experience preferred

Familiarity with HRIS systems

Strong organizational and communication skills

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Bilingual fluency in Spanish is highly preferred
