Responsibilities

  • Provides HR guidance to applicants, employees, and leadership; refer complex matters to Chief People Officer.
  • Manages assigned HR functions and provides coverage during staff absences.
  • Coordinates recruiting activities: job postings, communications, interview scheduling, hiring support.
  • Coordinates background checks and employment eligibility verification; conducts onboarding and separations.
  • Participates in full-cycle payroll processing and processes payroll on rotation with HR staff.
  • Administers employee benefits including health, dental, vision, FSA, life and disability insurance, COBRA, 401(k).
  • Administers leave processes, tracking, documentation and communication.
  • Maintains confidential HR records and HRIS data; processes changes and reports.
  • Supports unemployment claims and hearings as assigned.
  • Tracks training, licensure, and certification needs.
  • Supports employee relations, performance management, and investigations as directed.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and WA employment laws; updates policies as needed.
  • Participates in recognition programs and safety training; seeks process improvements.

About Cascade

Cascade is a nonprofit community health center that has served Lewis County and the surrounding communities for 60 years. With five locations throughout Lewis County, Washington, we provide a wide range of services designed to meet the needs of our clients and community.

Position Summary

Our HR team is seeking an organized, collaborative HR Generalist to support employees and leadership through recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, leave administration, and employee relations. Each generalist manages assigned responsibilities while maintaining broad HR knowledge to provide coverage and support the department. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, confidentiality, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities with dependable follow-through.

Location and Schedule
  • Location: 2428 W Reynolds Avenue Centralia, WA 98531
  • FTE/Hours: 1.0FTE (40-hours)
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday; start and end times may be flexible based on department needs and supervisor approval. HR office hours are currently Monday - Thursday 7am-4pm & Friday 8am-12:00pm.
Pay Range

$31.26 - $40.02; starting rate depends on experience and education.

Qualifications
  • At least three years of human resources experience required; experience across multiple HR functions preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Management, or related field preferred.
  • Payroll processing experience preferred, with the ability to learn and independently perform full-cycle payroll following training.
  • Must be able to pass WA State Patrol background check. A national background check may be required if haven’t lived in WA State for the last 3 consecutive years.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn HRIS; includes payroll and applicant tracking systems.
What You'll Do
  • Provides timely, respectful service and HR guidance to applicants, employees, and leadership; refers complex or sensitive matters to the Chief People Officer.
  • Manages assigned HR functions, participates in cross-training, and provides coverage during staff absences and changes in department workload.
  • Coordinates recruiting activities, including job postings, applicant communication, interview scheduling, and hiring support.
  • Coordinates background checks and employment eligibility verification; conducts new hire orientation and supports onboarding and employee separations.
  • Participates in full-cycle payroll and independently processes payroll on rotation with HR staff, following established procedures and review requirements.
  • Administers employee benefits, including health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life and disability insurance, COBRA, 401(k), and wellness programs.
  • Administers assigned employee leave processes, including tracking, documentation, employee communication, and coordination of benefits during leave.
  • Maintains accurate, confidential personnel records and HRIS data; processes personnel changes and prepares HR reports.
  • Reviews and responds to unemployment claims with supporting documentation. Participate in unemployment hearings as assigned.
  • Tracks and documents employee training, continuing education, professional licensure, and certification requirements.
  • Supports employee relations, performance management, disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations under the direction of the Chief People Officer.
  • Supports compliance with federal, Washington State, and local employment requirements; identifies concerns and assists with policy and procedure updates.
  • Plans and participates in employee recognition programs, HR activities, and events; supports assigned safety and training programs.
  • Maintains current HR knowledge and identifies opportunities to improve department processes and service.
  • Performs other duties related to supporting the Human Resources Department as assigned.

  • Voluntary benefits: Supplemental term life insurance, legal services, fraud and identity protection, HSA, FSA, dependent care FSA, and pet insurance, subject to applicable plan terms.
  • Retirement benefits: After six months of employment, Cascade contributes 5% of your gross earnings to a 401(k) each month—no employee contribution or match is required.
