Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive HR experience, including 3 years in an exempt-level role.
  • Minimum 2 years applying or administering a CBA.
  • Knowledge of California labor law and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with manufacturing/CPG industry a plus.
  • Spanish language skills preferred.

Job Summary

Administer labor relations policies and agreements, ensuring adherence to work rules and practices. Support escalated employee relations concerns, including grievances and union negotiations. Partner with HR leadership to deploy solutions in labor/union relations, attendance policy management (ADP), compliance, and investigations. Provide guidance and coaching to plant and operations leadership to resolve employee concerns in compliance with company policies and values. Enforce labor relations policies and agreements, ensuring adherence to business and union rules related to collective bargaining agreements (CBA) and attendance policy.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure HR practices comply with regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Investigate and administer worker compensation claims, manage record retention, approve invoices, and create documentation.
  • Collaborate with corporate EH&S and HR on worker’s compensation case management.
  • Assist in planning and organizing employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Help leaders attract and retain talent to achieve business and growth objectives.
  • Support HR Manager with performance management and employee engagement initiatives for the assigned group.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management to reduce legal risks.
  • Partner with the legal department as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required in human resources or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, including 3 years in an exempt-level HR role.
  • Minimum 2 years applying or administering a CBA.
  • Preferred HR experience in manufacturing or production; CPG industry experience a plus.
  • Bilingual fluency a plus; Spanish preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking skills for process improvement and resolving complex matters.
  • Excellent client management and business literacy skills to interpret business objectives and recommend people-centric solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related issues and company information.
  • Ability to develop tools and programs to support positive change in the client organization.
  • Experience with Workday preferred.
  • Current knowledge of state and federal employment law, with emphasis on California labor law.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements
  • Must be able to work off shift hours to support 3rd shift once per week.
  • Occasionally required to lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Required to regularly sit; must be able to sit or stand for at least 8 hours; must concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail.
  • Works in a regular office environment; must be able to comply with GMPs for plant walks/visits on a weekly basis.
  • In support of the operations team, working in the field is occasionally required.
  • Conditions in the field: ability to climb stairs and ladders; exposure to heat, cold, water, dust, confined spaces, elevated areas, dirt, ash particles and fuel particles; exposure to vibration, moving mechanical parts and loud noise; capable of using protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses or goggles, safety shoes, hearing protection, masks, etc.
