Job summary

Charter Oak State College, located in New Britain, CT, seeks an on-site Human Resources professional to provide HR services for faculty and staff. The role supports recruitment, onboarding, contracts, payroll and personnel documentation, and confidential records management.

The incumbent reports to the Director of Human Resources and collaborates with Academic Affairs, Finance, Payroll, IT, and other departments. Fall 2026 anticipated start date.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong information technology literacy with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary point of contact for faculty and staff seeking assistance with routine HR questions, escalating complex matters as appropriate.
• Coordinate recruitment and hiring activities for faculty and full-time staff.
• Prepare and process contracts and appointment letters and other employment documentation.
• Maintain employee schedules and faculty contracting calendar coordinating timelines with Academic Affairs.
• Coordinate employee onboarding activities and required employment documentation for new faculty and staff.
• Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records in accordance with applicable College, CSCU, and legal requirements.
• Coordinate and process faculty compensation in accordance with approved appointments and payroll schedules.
• Process employee lifecycle transactions including appointments, renewals, changes in status, and separations.
• Assist with employee orientations, training, communications, and HR projects in support of departmental and institutional priorities.
• Collaborate with Academic Affairs, Finance, Payroll, IT, and other departments and institutions as necessary to support timely and accurate personnel processes

Education

Bachelor's degree or four years of equivalent experience
