Job summary

SMOC is seeking an Housing Quality Standard (HQS) Inspections Manager to supervise the HQS Inspections department, mentor staff, and ensure inspections and related procedures comply with EO HLC guidance. The role includes training, workflow oversight, and administrative duties as needed.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree (preferred), 1–2 years housing program experience with staff management, and HQS certification. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 1-2 years housing program experience, 1-2 years managing staff preferred.
• Knowledge of Excel, Windows, Word and PC’s.
• Ability to work well in a very high volume and productivity environment.
• Valid Mass. Driver’s License and insurance.
• HQS Certification required.
• Future HQS Certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day supervision of the HQS Inspectors and HQS Coordinator.
• Oversee scheduling and completion of HQS inspections of new units, existing units, and reinspection.
• Assist Director in development and implementation of new programmatic practices and forms.
• Monitor inspections by conducting audit inspections.
• Verify unit compliance based on health and safety requirements.
• Conduct trainings for new staff and ongoing trainings on HQS/EOHLC regulations.
• Manage HQS Inspections data in the YARDI system.
• Maintain compliance rules related to Lead Paint LOC documents.
