Tokio Marine HCC is seeking an Underwriting Intern for the Healthcare Professional Liability team at our New York City office. The role supports underwriters, participates in deal flow, and gains exposure to the insurance underwriting process.

The position is a 4-day-per-week internship with a start on 5/18/2027 and end on 8/7/2027. Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor’s degree, be eager to learn, and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Eager to learn, detail-oriented, and a team-player in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Spring 2028 graduation strongly preferred.
  • 60 hours of general college coursework with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Assess transaction risks and prepare preliminary terms for policy indications.
  • Assist Underwriters in managing deal pipeline, maintaining electronic underwriting files, producing indications, coordinating due diligence with outside counsel and accountants, and preparing insurance policies for issuance.
  • Attend marketing events, business development events, and group strategy sessions.

Summary Under immediate supervision, learns, shadows, and provides support to the Healthcare Professional Liability team.

Responsibilities
  • Initial review and analysis of transaction submissions, including reviewing financial statements, business operational information, and purchase agreements
  • Assess transaction risks and prepare preliminary terms for policy indications
  • Assist Underwriters in managing deal pipeline, including managing and maintaining electronic underwriting files, producing indications, coordinating due diligence process with outside counsel and accountants, and preparing insurance policies for issuance
  • Attend marketing events, business development events, and group strategy sessions
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree and either be a current or recent enrollee in relevant field.

Compensation & Pay Transparency (New York)

The pay range for this position is $23-29/hour, which includes geographic adjustments, where applicable.

The pay range is the range TMHCC in good faith believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting.

The hired applicant will be offered pay within the entire range based on the candidate’s geographic location, qualifications, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
