Job summary

SpaceX’s Starshield software team in Hawthorne is pursuing engineers who love solving problems and can contribute C++ software for real-world space systems. You will design, develop, test, and support software that controls satellites and enables secure, autonomous operations.

We value engineers with hands-on experience in C++, Linux environments, and the ability to collaborate across disciplines while pursuing sensitive, mission-critical objectives. Clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or related field; OR 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• C, C++, or Python development experience; strong C++ in high-performance systems.
• Solid knowledge of computer architecture and networks.
• Strong debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing skills.
• Able to work independently and in a team, with initiative and clear communication.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Create highly reliable software systems that control hundreds of satellites in low earth orbit.
• Leverage software design to improve satellite constellation performance, security, and availability.
• See software through from needs to prototyping, development, testing, and on-orbit rollout.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to build next-gen satellite capabilities.
