Job summary
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a highly qualified HPC Linux Systems Engineer to enhance security, performance, and reliability of NCCS computing environments, including Frontier and related clusters. You will work in the NCCS Systems Section to support system installation, deployment, testing, upgrades, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical field.
- 8+ years of Linux systems experience.
- Experience with security policies, NIST/DISA STIGs in classified environments.
- Experience designing and deploying HPC systems for classified environments.
Responsibilities
- Install, integrate, and administer HPC Linux clusters and high-speed network.
- Diagnose system operational problems quickly and effectively.
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve hardware and software issues.
- Plan and coordinate hardware/software changes with customer input using change management.
- Port and write system management tools.
- Document system administration procedures.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation and off-hours maintenance.
- Integrate systems into NCCS environment and analyze performance.
