Job summary

Vast is developing next-generation space stations and space infrastructure, recruiting a Staff HPC Infrastructure Engineer to support HPC systems in Long Beach, CA. The role covers building and maintaining high-performance compute environments, collaborating with engineering teams, and guiding lifecycle management for critical mission analytics.

The position reports to the Manager, IT Infrastructure and requires 8+ years in HPC, SLURM, and Linux, with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

Qualifications

• 8+ years HPC administration and architecture experience.
• Experience supporting HPC clusters for Aerospace or related analytics.
• Deep understanding of SLURM and Linux.
• Experience collaborating with engineering teams to shape HPC architecture.
• Proven track record leading technical initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, IT, math, eng, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Build, support, and architect Vast’s HPC infrastructure.
• Design improvements to HPC for performance and cost.
• Provide support to engineering teams using HPC.
• Own lifecycle of HPC infrastructure including updates.
• Integrate HPC with NX/Teamcenter and post-processing.
• Manage onboarding of applications and users.
