Job summary

Siemens Software is seeking a Grid Operations Architect to own the architectural vision for scalable, multi‑grid compute infrastructure. You will lead a major migration from AGE to Accelerator, design next‑gen grid topologies, and drive automation across 18+ grids and 9+ clusters, aligning capacity and performance with business goals.

The role requires 15+ years in HPC/grid environments, deep Linux and scheduler experience, and strong leadership to reduce toil and deliver 24x5 coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering; Master's preferred.
• 15+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure architecture, or HPC/grid computing.
• Strong Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and large-scale fleet management.
• Experience with multiple schedulers (AGE, Accelerator, LSF, SLURM) or equivalent.
• Proven ability to develop multi-year roadmaps and lead technical initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Own the multiyear architectural roadmap for scaling grid compute capacity to 1M+ cores across 18+ grids.
• Design the phased migration plan from AGE to Accelerator's hierarchical scheduling platform.
• Design next generation grid topologies, scheduling frameworks, and resource management strategies.
• Develop consolidation strategies to reduce operational complexity across 4 schedulers.
• Lead capacity planning and forecasting models translating business requirements into investment plans.
• Architect hybrid and cloud burst strategies to augment on-prem capacity during peak demand.
• Design fault-tolerant, self-healing grid architectures to enable 24x5 coverage.
• Establish standards, reference designs, and best practices for grid deployment and lifecycle management.
• Evolve grid automation/tools, modernizing Perl/Shell tools toward Python, APIs, and IaC (GitLab CI/CD).
• Architect observability and analytics stacks (Elastic, Grafana, Power BI) for real-time visibility.
• Develop AI-assisted alerting and predictive operations capabilities.
• Mentor grid admins and drive cross-training to increase schedulers per person.
• Maintain governance for change management, security policies, and compliance.
