Job summary

Lightning AI is seeking a Data Center Technician to support day-to-day hardware, power, and network operations in our newest HPC Data Center in Chicago, on-site in Lisle, IL. This full-time role involves maintaining equipment, troubleshooting, and ensuring proper rack-and-cable configuration.

You will work with the HW Support and RMA teams to resolve issues, document fixes, and uphold installation standards across data centers.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in data centers with critical infrastructure systems (power, cooling, cabling).
• Strong Linux administration experience.
• Experience setting up Ethernet and InfiniBand networking.
• Attention to detail in debugging, cabling, and documenting fixes.
• Ability to work in 24/7 environments with on-call rotation.
• Prioritizing tasks and quick response to issues.
• Strong analytical and communication skills coordinating with engineers and operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain data center hardware including configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Diagnose and resolve system, compute, and network issues to restore functionality.
• Ensure new server, storage, and network infrastructure is properly racked, labeled, cabled, and configured.
• Troubleshoot server hardware and software issues.
• Become a subject matter expert on physical data center aspects from power to cabling.
• Proactively monitor onsite hardware to prevent failures.
• Collaborate with HW Support to resolve infrastructure tickets.
• Coordinate with RMA to return faulty parts and order replacements.
• Create installation standards and documentation for placement, labeling, and cabling.
