Job summary

Rivet Operations Company in Arlington, VA is seeking a Computing Specialist focused on High Performance Computing to enable secure and efficient access for a large, diverse user community of scientists and engineers.

The role supports ONR program officers, manages HPC usage, and ensures policy compliance across unclassified and classified environments while coordinating with security offices and program leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six years of IT/computing or technical support for government, research, or scientific organizations.
• Experience supporting or administering computing systems for large user communities.
• Familiarity with tracking and managing system usage metrics (e.g., CPU hours).
• Ability to work with scientists, engineers, program managers, and security personnel in mission-critical environments.
• Strong verbal communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals.
• Initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and Outlook).
• Security Clearance: US citizen and ability to obtain/maintain required clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support Program Officers who lead and manage the Navy's High Performance Computing Program.
• Serve as primary contact for ~500 scientists and engineers using Navy HPC systems.
• Establish, manage, and maintain user accounts for HPC access.
• Track and monitor CPU hours across HPC platforms.
• Allocate CPU hours per Navy priorities and guidance.
• Coordinate with security offices to verify required clearances and credentials for classified resources.
• Ensure compliance with security, access control, and usage policies for unclassified and classified HPC environments.
• Maintain records of system usage, allocations, and user authorizations.
