Job summary

Cognizant is hiring an HP NonStop Infrastructure Engineer to provide L2/L3 production support for mission-critical NonStop environments in a remote USA setting. The role focuses on Guardian/OSS administration, Pathway/TMF, SQL engines, and automation using TACL, NetBatch, NSScheduler, and JAMS.

You will troubleshoot complex infrastructure, perform RCA, and work with multiple teams to ensure availability across data centers and drive resilience and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on HP NonStop (Tandem) experience.
• 5+ years of Guardian OS and/or OSS administration and support.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Pathway and TMF.
• Strong experience with SQL/MP and/or SQL/MX.
• Experience with HP NonStop monitoring and diagnostic tools (EMS, MEASURE, PTrace).
• Experience troubleshooting NonStop subsystems (Expand, Spooler, batch-processing).
• Experience supporting 24x7 production environments and incidents.
• Understanding of high availability, fault-tolerant infrastructure, capacity management, disaster resilience.
• Incident troubleshooting, problem management, and RCA experience.
• Automation scripting with TACL; exposure to NetBatch, NSScheduler, JAMS.
• ITIL-based incident, problem, change management (CAB-controlled changes).
• Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide L2/L3 production and infrastructure support for HP NonStop (Tandem) systems in a 24x7 environment.
• Install, configure, administer, maintain, patch, and upgrade Guardian and OSS environments and components.
• Monitor health, performance, capacity, and availability with EMS, MEASURE, and PTrace.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and production issues involving Pathway, TMF, SQL/MP, and SQL/MX.
• Perform RCA for incidents and implement preventive measures.
• Support availability, fault tolerance, stability, and disaster resilience across data centers.
• Collaborate with application teams on performance tuning and capacity considerations.
• Plan system changes, upgrades, patches, and deployments per ITIL/CAB processes.
• Develop automation for recurring tasks using TACL, NetBatch, NSScheduler, JAMS.
• Participate in incident resolution, releases, upgrades, and projects with cross-functional teams.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and runbooks.

Job Title: HP NonStop Infrastructure Engineer

Job Location: Remote, USA.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HP NonStop Infrastructure Engineer to provide L2/L3 infrastructure and production support for mission-critical HP NonStop (Tandem) environments. The role requires strong hands-on expertise with HP NonStop, Guardian OS/OSS, Pathway, TMF, SQL/MP or SQL/MX, EMS, MEASURE, and PTrace .

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting highly available 24x7 production environments, troubleshooting complex platform issues, performing system administration and upgrades, conducting root cause analysis, and automating operational activities.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $99,000 to $115,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

In this role, you will

• Provide L2/L3 production and infrastructure support for HP NonStop (Tandem) systems operating in a 24x7 mission-critical environment.

• Install, configure, administer, maintain, patch, and upgrade HP NonStop Guardian and OSS operating environments and associated system components.

• Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and availability using tools such as EMS, MEASURE, and PTrace .

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and production issues involving Pathway, TMF, Expand, SQL/MP, SQL/MX, Spooler, and batch-processing environments .

• Perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production incidents and implement appropriate corrective and preventive measures.

• Support the availability, fault tolerance, stability, and disaster resilience of HP NonStop platforms across multiple data centers.

• Partner with application teams on performance tuning, resource optimization, capacity considerations, and platform-specific troubleshooting .

• Plan and execute system changes, upgrades, patches, and deployments in accordance with established ITIL and CAB change-management processes .

• Develop and maintain automation for recurring operational and administrative activities using TACL scripting, NetBatch, NSScheduler, and/or JAMS .

• Participate in incident resolution, release activities, system upgrades, and project implementations in collaboration with network, database, infrastructure, and application development teams .

• Maintain accurate technical documentation, including operational procedures, runbooks, configuration baselines, troubleshooting guides, and system documentation .

• Serve as an HP NonStop Subject Matter Expert (SME) during critical production incidents and complex technical troubleshooting.

• Participate in on-call support and assist with restoring services during high-priority production incidents.

• Identify opportunities to improve operational stability, automation, system performance, and infrastructure support processes.

What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with HP NonStop (Tandem) systems.

• 5+ years of experience with Guardian OS and/or OSS administration and support.

• Strong hands-on knowledge of Pathway and TMF .

• Strong experience with SQL/MP and/or SQL/MX .

• Experience with HP NonStop monitoring and diagnostic tools, including EMS, MEASURE, and PTrace .

• Experience troubleshooting Expand, Spooler, batch-processing, and related NonStop subsystems .

• Experience supporting 24x7 production environments and handling critical production incidents.

• Strong understanding of high availability, fault-tolerant infrastructure, capacity management, and disaster resilience .

• Experience performing incident troubleshooting, problem management, and RCA .

• Experience with automation or scripting using TACL , with exposure to NetBatch, NSScheduler, and/or JAMS .

• Understanding of ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management , including CAB-controlled production changes.

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting large-scale, business-critical HP NonStop environments.

• Experience supporting infrastructure distributed across multiple data centers.

• Strong experience with production performance analysis and capacity optimization.

• Ability to operate effectively during critical incidents and coordinate troubleshooting across multiple technical teams.

• Experience creating automation to reduce repetitive administrative and operational activities.
