Job summary

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Texas, based in Houston, seeks Assistant United States Attorneys to handle a fast-paced, nationwide caseload in federal court. This is a challenging, mission-driven role supporting the Department of Justice's enforcement and civil litigation efforts in immigration and related matters.

Applicants must hold a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar, and reside within the district or within 25 miles.

Qualifications

• Strong academic credentials and excellent legal research and writing skills.
• Courtroom experience, including first-chair jury trials, is preferred.
• Must be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction) by entry on duty.

Responsibilities

• Handle a fast-paced, varied caseload in federal court from day one.
• Work on immigration enforcement matters, habeas corpus, injunctions, asylum and general civil litigation.
• Collaborate with investigators and other AUSAs to advance departmental interests.
