Job summary

The United States Department of Justice's Southern District of Texas seeks an Assistant United States Attorney (Civil) for Border Fence in Houston. You will handle immigration enforcement matters, warrants, habeas defense, injunctions, asylum and passport cases, and general civil litigation.

Ideal candidates have a J.D. degree, bar admission, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to manage a fast-paced caseload in a team setting; residency within the district is expected.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction by entry on duty.
• Strong legal research and writing skills with a quick analytical ability.
• High-volume courtroom experience and ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Work on immigration enforcement matters, issuing warrants and defending habeas corpus cases.
• Seek injunctions, defend asylum and passport cases, and handle general civil litigation.
• Carry a fast-paced, varied caseload from day one and progress to more complex assignments.
