Job summary

Community Housing Innovations, Inc. (CHI) in Brooklyn, NY, seeks a Housing Supervisor to oversee housing packet reviews and submissions to HOME, CAPS, CURRENT, and DHS programs.

You will guide a team of housing, employment, recreation, and entitlement specialists to ensure accurate, compliant processes. The role requires a Bachelor’s in human services or related field (Master’s preferred), 2+ years in homelessness or housing, and at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience in homelessness or housing.
  • At least 1 year in a supervisory/leadership role.
  • Experience with NYC housing resources and NYC/NY State agencies/programs that facilitate permanent housing goals.

Responsibilities

  • Review and ensure accuracy of housing packets submitted to HOME, CAPS, CURRENT and DHS programs.
  • Conduct 1-on-1 and group meetings to update goals and performance in Paycom.
  • Lead team meetings to discuss program updates, challenges, and best practices.
  • Monitor program compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Develop and implement program policies and procedures.
  • Attend housing meetings, trainings and workshops with DHS.

Have extensive knowledge of DHS-CARES. In addition to managing these critical tasks, the Housing Supervisor will provide supervision and guidance to a team of housing specialists, employment specialists, recreation specialists, and entitlement specialists.Pay: $66,300 annual salary.FLSA: Exempt. Not eligible for overtime.Schedule: Monday-Wednesday, Friday 9am-5pm except for Tuesday. Must work one Saturday per month.Location: Gowanus/Park Slope Brooklyn, NYJOB-RELATED DUTIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThese duties are essential and specific to the successful implementation of this position.Review and ensure the accuracy of housing packets for submission to HOME, CAPS, CurRENT, The Rental Supplement Unit and other DHS programs.Conduct 1 to 1 and group meetings with members of your team and update the performance goals, accomplishments, notes, and feedback in Paycom on a regular basis (weekly/bi-weekly).Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including governmental agencies and community partners.Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective service delivery to clients.Monitor program compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members.Lead team meetings to discuss program updates, challenges, and best practices.Assist in the development and implementation of program policies and procedures.Participate in strategic planning to improve program outcomes and client satisfaction.Manage workshops and outreach programs.Attend housing meetings, trainings and workshops at/by DHS.Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.Maintains charts, files, and housing paperwork in an orderly fashion.Always maintains clinical appropriateness.ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTSEducation and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Must have at least two years’ experience working in a related field such as homelessness or housing and at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role. In lieu of educational requirements, at least 5 years of experience with housing programs, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.Must have working knowledge and insight into NYC housing resources including experience helping people find affordable housing and working with different NYC and NY State agencies and programs the facilitate permanent housing goals including CURRENT and DHS programs.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required,bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.Computer skills: Basic competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and the internetMath Skills: Ability to formulate simple financial budgetsPhysical Performance: Ability to make home visits (walk distances, climb several flights of stairs, etc.)Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions and judgment callsOther Skills: Ability to relate to the underserved, homeless and disabled populations.
