Advastar, Inc. | Recruiting & Staffing is seeking a Housing Supervisor to run daily onsite operations for the Chicago team. This frontline leadership role sets service tone, manages a small onsite team, and serves as the main contact for participants and landlords in a high-visibility, in-person office.

The position offers a base salary of roughly $52K-$60K+ depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits. Full-time, Monday–Friday, in-office with no remote option.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in business or public administration.
• HCV credential or related certification preferred.
• Experience in supervisory or team-lead roles in public-benefits environments.
• Experience with Housing Choice Voucher or similar programs required.

Responsibilities

• Represent onsite for participants, landlords, and visitors, ensuring service quality.
• Own first-line escalation for difficult customer situations and de-escalation.
• Oversee daily workflow, deadlines, and case queues to keep service moving.
• Coach onsite team members and manage timecards, scheduling, and reporting.
• Coordinate with housing authority staff and building partners to resolve issues.

Job description

A national housing consulting firm that manages Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program operations on behalf of public housing authorities is hiring a Housing Supervisor to run daily onsite office operations for its Chicago team. This is the frontline leadership seat for a busy public-facing office: the Supervisor sets the tone for customer service, is the first point of escalation when a participant or landlord issue gets difficult, manages workflow and deadlines across a small onsite team, and represents the company to the housing authority and its partners inside the building. The office runs a high-volume, in-person walk-in day each week, so this is a hands-on, high-visibility leadership role. The right person will build real credibility with the client by being the one leader consistently on-site.

• Anticipate $52K-$60K+ base salary, based on experience

Overview

• Serve as the primary onsite representative for program participants, landlords, and visitors, setting the tone for service quality
• Own first-line escalation for difficult customer situations, applying de-escalation skill and sound judgment
• Oversee daily office workflow, deadlines, and case queues to keep service moving and files compliant
• Coach and mentor onsite (and potentially remote) team members, building a positive, accountable team culture
• Manage timecards, scheduling, and recurring reporting for the office
• Partner with the housing authority's staff and other building partners to keep communication open and issues resolved quickly

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Housing Management, or a related field, preferred
• Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program credential, preferred
• Certification in an affordable housing program area (HCV, Public Housing, LIHTC), preferred
• Supervisory or team-lead experience in a customer-facing or public-benefits environment, required (flexible on years for the right candidate)
• Experience with a Housing Choice Voucher or similar public-benefits program, required (flexible on years for the right candidate)
• Strongly Preferred — experience specifically in annual recertifications, interims, or rental-increase processing
• Strong Microsoft Office skills and comfort learning housing-specific case-management software
• Able to pass a background check and drug screen
