Job summary

SAVE is seeking a Housing Case Manager in the Bay Area to deliver intensive case management and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence. You will help clients access housing, financial assistance, and community resources, while coordinating with landlords and agencies.

The role supports employment training, educational programs, and flexible in-person/remote service delivery across Alameda County. The position requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, 1+ year in case management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in social work, human services, counseling, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of case management or similar experience in a social services setting, preferably with trauma-affected populations
  • At least 1 year of experience working directly with domestic violence survivors
  • Understanding of survivor-centered and trauma-informed service models
  • Knowledge of the Bay Area housing market and resources available to lower-income communities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and adapt across environments
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, and client tracking databases
  • Valid California driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable vehicle access
  • Completion of (or willingness to complete) the 40‑hour state‑mandated DV counselor training
  • Must pass a background investigation

Responsibilities

  • Deliver intensive crisis intervention, safety planning, and individualized case management to eligible survivors
  • Conduct one-on-one sessions to identify needs, set goals, make referrals, and track progress
  • Assist clients in applying for housing waitlists, affordable housing, and benefits (SSI/SSDI, CalWORKS, CalFresh, VOC)
  • Conduct housing assessments and search for suitable units through online platforms and community outreach
  • Provide advocacy with landlords and housing properties on behalf of clients
  • Support clients in enrolling in employment training and educational programs to strengthen economic stability
  • Deliver flexible case management in-home, in-office, mobile, or virtually throughout Alameda County
  • Maintain accurate client files and ensure proper documentation of all services and assistance provided
  • Manage intake across multiple databases; maintain a current directory of community resources
  • Meet regularly with the Housing Manager for supervision and program oversight
  • Respond to crisis calls and walk-in survivors
  • Provide emergency transportation as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and organizational retreats
  • Support onboarding of new staff and volunteers
  • Contribute to program planning, development, and office operations
