Job summary

The Sanctuary on Potomac: a 43‑unit Permanent Supportive Housing project in Aurora seeks a skilled Peer Specialist to use lived experience to engage residents, support goal setting, and promote recovery and stability.

Colo. CPFS or NCPRSS certification is required, with experience serving people facing homelessness and behavioral health challenges. On‑site role with collaborative team and benefits included.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Colorado Peer and Family Specialist (CPFS) certification OR a National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) credential.
• Direct lived experience with homelessness, behavioral health recovery, and/or substance use recovery required, with demonstrated ability to engage and support participants.
• Strong commitment to trauma‑informed, strengths‑based, person‑centered peer support and housing stability.

Responsibilities

• Engage residents in collaborative, trusting relationships using lived experience to mentor, encourage, and support.
• Promote housing stability with a housing‑focused, strengths‑based approach and participant self‑determination.
• Ensure a minimum of 25 billable hours per week through Medicaid‑reimbursable Services, including housing supports and skills training.
• Collaborate with Aurora Mental Health and Recovery Case Manager and Manager of Supportive Services on service planning and follow‑through.
• Meet residents on‑site and in their units; adapt contact frequency to participant needs and acuity.
• Provide peer support to assist transition to housing and independent living, building routines.
• Assist with accessing community resources and mainstream benefits (SNAP, SSI, etc.).
• Maintain HIPAA compliant documentation and coordinate with service providers for coordinated interventions.
