Job summary

Safe Haven Family Shelter is seeking a Housing Stability Coach to work with families with minor children at risk of homelessness. The role uses motivational interviewing and trauma-informed care to stabilize housing, connect families to resources, increase income and benefits, and strengthen support networks.

Responsibilities include intake reviews, goal setting, weekly check-ins, progress monitoring, and warm referrals to services.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred; comparable field experience considered.
One to three years in social services, case management, coaching, or family-facing roles.
Training in Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing strongly preferred.
Experience with crisis intervention, conflict resolution, de-escalation, or trauma-informed service delivery preferred.
Knowledge of community resources and homelessness prevention practices strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide holistic, family-centered coaching to families at risk of homelessness, including: intake review, needs assessment, goal setting, and stabilization plans.
Maintain regular contact with families through coaching sessions, progress check-ins, and warm referrals.
Connect families to resources to stabilize housing, including rental/utility assistance, legal aid, landlord mediation, and public benefits.
