Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a seasoned Cessation of Duty Officer to join our Housing Solutions team in Enfield. The role focuses on complex homelessness cases, determining cessation and discharge of statutory duties, and producing legally sound decision letters.

The ideal candidate will manage cases independently, conduct investigations, and ensure decisions withstand legal scrutiny under Housing Act 1996 Part VII and related guidance.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in a Local Authority Homelessness Service.
• Proven track record in making homelessness decisions under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.
• Strong skills in decision writing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a portfolio of complex homelessness cases.
• Evaluate the lawful discharge or cessation of statutory homelessness duties.
• Conduct thorough investigations and legal inquiries.
• Examine evidence from applicants, support providers, health professionals, and partner agencies.
• Identify evidence gaps and guide further investigations.
• Apply relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and case law to individual cases.
• Draft comprehensive "Minded To" and final decision letters.
• Assess credibility and weigh evidence to reach decisions.
• Maintain detailed and accurate case records.
• Collaborate with legal teams, review officers, and housing colleagues.
