Overview:

Housing Services Specialist - Remote in Glen Allen/Richmond, VA

Status: Full-Time, permanent position (40 hours)

Standard working hours: 8:30 am to 5 pm EST, M-F

This position will work remotely in Richmond, VA, with travel approximately 1-2 times a week within the Central region of Virginia, mainly in the Richmond area; occasionally up to 2-3 hours travel if needed.

• Part of the Social Determinants of Health Team (comprising Housing Services Specialists and Social Workers)
• Assist members who are housing insecure or experiencing homelessness with housing searches
• Provide information and assistance for low-income housing options and guidance on applying for subsidized housing
• Coordinate with staff to support members transitioning from nursing facilities to the community
• Conduct property visits and engage in community networking to stay informed of housing resources
• Manage caseloads through coordination and communication with members, staff, and service providers
• Perform duties both remotely and in the field throughout the Central Virginia region

Location: Glen Allen, VA

Work Shift: Days (First shift)

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• 1-3 years of experience in community outreach or customer service
• 1-3 years of experience assisting older adults, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable populations in securing accessible, affordable housing
• Experience working with low-income housing providers is preferred
• Knowledge of subsidized housing and landlord/tenant rights is a plus
• Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the population served
