Job summary

The Brien Center is seeking a dedicated Housing Specialist to work with Persons served in community and residential settings to promote independence and safe, affordable living.

You will partner with Housing Authorities, landlords and community agencies to locate housing options, assist with searches, utilities, subsidies, leases, and money management, and support clients through tenancy and MAP-related needs in a recovery-informed, trauma-informed framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required
• Housing experience - 2-4 years preferred
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to advocate program services to community members
• Ability to pass CORI and DMV checks
• Ability to travel as needed

Responsibilities

• Work within the Housing First and Rapid Housing model.
• Collaborate with local Housing Authorities, landlords and community service agencies to seek affordable housing options
• Assist Persons served to identify housing options, housing searches and acquiring furniture
• Assist Persons served to set up and/or discontinue utilities
• Support Persons served to apply for housing subsidies including completing applications and documentation
• Coordinate leases, landlord negotiations, and contracts
• Teach money management skills to Persons served
• Complete monthly apartment inspections for project based subsidies
• Attend required treatment meetings and provide MAP protocol medication administration as needed
