Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) is seeking a Housing Program Case Aide for Homewood, IL. Under supervision, you will support youth and families, assist housing advocates, and help clients access community resources to live safely in the community.

The role requires reliability, a valid driver's license, and the ability to drive within the service area. Schedule is 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday with occasional evenings and Saturdays; hourly rate is $20.00.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree preferred or two years of college coursework.
  • Two years of work experience in direct service preferred.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Chicagoland area strongly preferred.
  • Ability to drive own vehicle within service area required.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a good driving record required.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate program and participant needs.
  • Capacity to be flexible and responsive to clients, system partners, and internal customers.
  • Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
  • Demonstrates tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, photocopiers, and software including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and support both agency goals and coworkers, respecting people from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supports, represents, and extends the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Assists housing advocates in providing in-home supportive services, community resource referrals, advocacy, and other social service interventions to clients.
  • Communicates regularly with program participants via phone, virtual platforms, and in person, documenting each interaction following program guidelines.
  • Conducts housing searches, reaches out to community resources, and assists program participants in connecting to resources in their communities.
  • Assists housing advocates in completing housing applications with clients, reviewing rental agreements, and accompanying clients to view rental units.
  • Follows up with clients to review individual service plan implementation.
  • Assists housing advocates in obtaining furniture and utilities for program participants.
  • Completes all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participates in program‑related training.
  • Completes all other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Candidate must have reliable transportation and the ability to carry $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability car insurance.

Schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and Saturday hours as needed.

Hourly Rate: $20.00 per hour

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Team Lead or designee, this position works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the youth and families served. The role works closely with NYAP housing advocates, clients, and community partners, providing support services toward the goal of living safely and successfully in the community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate program and participant needs.
