Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program is hiring a Housing Program Case Aide in Homewood, IL. The role supports youth and families, providing in‑home services, referrals, and advocacy to help clients live safely in the community.

The position requires strong communication, flexibility, and a teamwork approach. Training is provided, with occasional evenings or Saturdays as needed, and a competitive benefits package including insurance and time off.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred or two years of college coursework.
  • Two years of direct service work experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Actively support NYAP's mission, vision and values.
  • Assist housing advocates with in-home services and community referrals.
  • Communicate with program participants via phone, video, and in person and document interactions.
  • Conduct housing searches and connect participants to community resources.
  • Assist with completing housing applications and reviewing rental agreements.
  • Follow up to review service plan implementation.
  • Help obtain furniture and utilities for participants.
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in program-related training and adapt to supervisory directions.

Housing Program Case Aide – Homewood, IL.

Schedule: 8:30AM – 5:00PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and Saturday hours as needed.

Hourly Rate: $20.00/hour.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Team Lead or designee, this position works to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the youth and families served. The Housing Case Aide works closely with NYAP housing advocates, clients, and community partners, providing support services toward the ultimate goal of living safely and successfully in the community.

Responsibilities
  • Actively support, represent, and extend the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  • Assist housing advocates in providing in‑home supportive services, community resource referrals, advocacy, and other social service interventions to clients.
  • Communicate regularly with program participants via phone, virtual contact, and in person, documenting each interaction following program guidelines and expectations.
  • Conduct housing searches, reach out to community resources, and assist program participants in connecting to resources in their communities.
  • Help housing advocates complete housing applications with clients, review rental agreements, and accompany clients to view rental units.
  • Follow up with clients to review individual service plan implementation.
  • Assist housing advocates in obtaining furniture and utilities for program participants.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Participate in program‑related training.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree preferred or two years of college coursework.
  • Two years of direct service work experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Chicagoland area strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, automotive insurance, and a good driving record.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate program and participant needs.
  • Capacity to be flexible and responsive to clients, system partners, and internal customers.
  • Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function.
  • Demonstrates tolerance and respect for the ideas and actions of others.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • A team player who supports agency goals and co‑workers and respects people from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds.
Driving and Vehicle Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Reliable personal transportation.
  • Good driving record.
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000 bodily injury liability and $300,000 property damage liability.
