Job summary

Lantern Community Services, based in the Bronx, seeks an experienced Housing Specialist to help clients secure permanent housing and improve self-sufficiency. You will work with shelter and case management staff to guide clients through housing searches, applications, and viewings, and accompany them to appointments and moves into housing.

You will orient clients to housing processes, provide budgeting and subsidy guidance, and document counseling and outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, HSE, or GED required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of housing application/placement experience.
• Experience with homelessness, mental illness, substance use disorders, or low-income populations.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct housing intake and assess new clients.
• Ensure DHS timelines for permanent housing placement.
• Complete housing components of service plans and updates.
• Support Case Managers with HRA-2010E applications and docs.
• Prepare housing reports and collect data for funders.
• Facilitate client workshops on housing processes and budgeting.
