Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated shelter attendant to help manage overnight residents in our Louisiana shelter. You will check clients in, maintain intake records, and verify prepayments by sponsors or credits.

You’ll also oversee room readiness, inspect fire safety equipment, and manage daily cash deposits with receipts. This role requires basic data entry, accurate roster management, and the ability to communicate clearly with residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Strong communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Check clients into the shelter.
• Prepare and monitor intake cards.
• Determine if client has been prepaid by sponsor or credit.
• Prepare resident roster and maintain resident property records.
• Ensure that all rooms are in proper order before and after arrival of residents.
• Check fire equipment and ensure proper working order.
• Input data into the computer to maintain records and generate client lists.
• Prepare, tally, and balance monies with receipts and deposit to the safe.
