Position Overview

Under general supervision, the Housing Electrician performs a full range of skilled journey‑level electrical and related work, including repairing and replacing devices, troubleshooting, and resolving complex issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatuses using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Inspect, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions using test instruments.
  • Maintain records, retrieve data, and prepare standard reports.
  • Provide instruction to unskilled and semi‑skilled assistants.
  • Analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations.

  • Knowledge of configuration and maintenance of high‑voltage systems (substations, primary and secondary gear).

Required Licenses/Certifications
  • Current California General Electrician certification with the State of California, Department of Industrial Relations.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four years of experience as a journey‑level electrician.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional lifting of equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Compensation

Monthly salary range $5,998 – $6,492 (Step 1–5), with step placement based on qualifications.
