Job summary

The Hyatt Regency Schaumburg, a premier hotel, is seeking an Overnight Houseperson to maintain cleanliness, safety, and presentation of public areas, back-of-house spaces, and guest rooms during the overnight shift. Your role supports guest satisfaction and smooth daily operations.

You will perform thorough cleaning, floor care, and light housekeeping tasks, ensuring spaces meet high hygiene standards while adhering to safety and hospitality protocols.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning, janitorial work, or custodial services within a hotel.
• Knowledge of floor care: stripping, waxing, buffing, carpet cleaning.
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently overnight with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough cleaning of public areas including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and stairwells to uphold high standards of hygiene and appearance.
• Conduct floor care procedures such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and polishing to maintain pristine surfaces.
• Assist with light housekeeping tasks in guest rooms when needed, ensuring rooms meet cleanliness standards before check-in.
• Maintain janitorial supplies inventory and ensure proper storage and disposal of cleaning chemicals in compliance with safety regulations.
• Conduct routine inspections of hotel facilities to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards and report them promptly.
• Support custodial operations by managing industrial cleaning tasks in back-of-house areas or service corridors.
• Follow established hospitality protocols to deliver exceptional service while adhering to health and safety guidelines.

• Knowledge of floor care techniques including stripping, waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning
• Strong understanding of cleaning chemicals, safety procedures, and proper equipment use
• Experience with industrial or commercial cleaning practices is a plus
• Demonstrated ability to work independently during overnight shifts with minimal supervision
• Excellent attention to detail combined with a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness standards
• Previous housekeeper management experience is advantageous but not required
