Job summary

Hawks Cay Resort in Marathon, FL seeks a Houseperson to maintain cleanliness and safety across restrooms, hallways, stairwells, foyers and elevators. You will vacuum, dust, polish, move furniture and assist with guest requests while upholding the hotel’s guest service standards.

Responsibilities include responding to guest questions, reporting hazards, and supporting the team to ensure smooth operations. Previous hotel exposure is a plus; housing may be available.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in a hotel is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Clean and polish restrooms, hallways, stairwells, foyers and elevators.
• Vacuum, dust, polish and straighten furniture and decor; clean surfaces and remove waste.
• Empty room attendant carts of soiled linen and trash from guest rooms.
• Clean walls and doors, polish mirrors and elevator doors.
• Provide guest assistance, directions and information as requested.
• Respond to emergencies with safety instructions for guests and staff.
• Support department to maintain hotel standards and guest service.
• Assist shampooers with moving furniture and other tasks as needed.
• Report suspicious activity or hazards to Safety/Security.
• Attend meetings and trainings as required by management.

Job description

The Houseperson is responsible for cleaning and polishing the restrooms, hallways, stairwells, foyers and elevators in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

Skills

• Thoroughly clean restrooms, hallways, stairwells, foyers and elevators which includes vacuuming, dusting, polishing, straightening furniture and decor, cleaning/sanitizing surfaces and waste removal.
• Empty room attendant carts of soiled linen and trash from guest rooms.
• Clean and remove spots from corridor walls and doors.
• Polish and clean mirrors, room numbers on guest room doors, and elevator doors.
• Obtain amenities and supplies for room attendants.
• Turn mattresses and move furniture as assigned by supervisor.
• Respond to guest questions and provide guest assistance, directions, and information as requested.
• Provide instruction/guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.
• Support the department in any area that will maintain the building and guest service to hotel standards.
• Assist shampooers with the relocation of furniture.
• Report all suspicious persons or activities, hazardous conditions, etc. to the Safety/Security department.
• Must be ready to step in and support coworkers and team as needed to ensure efficient operation.
• Performs special assignments and projects as requested.
• Attend meetings/training as required by management.

Qualifications
