Job summary

The Maui Seaside Hotel seeks a dedicated Housekeeping Associate to clean and maintain all corridors and public areas, ensuring guest satisfaction in line with safety procedures. You will support the housekeeping team and report to the Senior Housekeeper, contributing to a clean, welcoming environment.

Ideal candidates have prior housekeeping experience, basic computer skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Flexible hours and a team-oriented attitude are valued.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or equivalent experience.
• Prior housekeeping experience in hospitality preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Walk assigned floors at start and end of shift; remove waste and note issues.
• Clean public areas per procedures, maintaining safety standards.
• Move linens and trash up to 50 lbs as needed.
• Assist section housekeepers and report guest issues.
• Coordinate with Senior Housekeeper on work priorities.
• Perform special projects as assigned.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will clean and maintain all corridors and public areas in accordance with all housekeeping procedures and standards and safety and security rules and regulations to ensure guest satisfaction.

SCOPE OF WORK + TEAM

• Reports to Area Executive Housekeeper/Housekeeping Supervisor
• Supports Housekeeping team

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Walk all assigned floors at beginning and end of shift; remove newspapers and service trays, empty ash urn receptacles, remove trash and/or linens and note any areas that need immediate cleaning.
• Clean all public areas in the prescribed manner while following safety and security procedures and regulations to include but not limited to: hallways, elevators, service areas, stairwells, etc.
• Remove soiled linen, terry and trash from the service areas and take to the appropriate locations in the prescribed manner. Must be able to lift, push, pull at least 50 lbs.
• Aid section housekeepers as needed (i.e. bed boards, roll-ways, etc.).
• Report any missing/found articles, damage or merchandise problems to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Receive assigned section, keys, supplies and any priority requests from the Senior Housekeeper.
• Be able to communicate and respond at all times, in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner to guests, managers and fellow associates. Report all guest issues and complaints to management
• Coordinate with Senior Housekeeper on work priorities and provide assistance when needed.
• Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned

EXPERIENCE:

• Prior Experience:
  • 1+ Previous housekeeping in hospitality or fast paced environment preferred.
• IT Expertise:
  • Advanced knowledge of computer software (including Microsoft Office, outlook) and web analytics tools is preferred.

• Education:
  • High School diploma or GED and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
• Subject Expertise:
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all property safety and security procedures as required maintaining a secure and safe environment for employees as well as guests.
  • Report any unusual occurrences and/or request to Supervisor.
  • Read and abide by all the regulations and rules of conduct stated in the Associate Handbook.
  • Must be service oriented with excellent customer service and sales skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate to guests, management, and coworkers and read, write and understand the English language
  • Must be energetic and outgoing
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to follow directions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Must be able to understand and work with basic financial information and solve basic arithmetic problems
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand for the entire shift.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be able to exercise confidentiality and discretion.

OTHER EXPECTATIONS:

• Abide by payroll policies, procedures and rules of conduct as stated in the Maui Seaside Hotel's Associate Handbook.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of all company safety and security procedures.
• Travel required: May be needed for hotel operational needs.
• Hours Required: Based on business operational needs.
