Houseman
Reports to: Dining Room Manager / Supervisor & Banquet and Event Manager / Supervisor
Role Purpose:
Set up designated rooms for events, banquets or member functions according to the Banquet Event Order (BEO). Consult with Dining Room and Banquet Manager for specific tables, linen or other equipment required. Maintain cleanliness and working condition of all respective equipment and member areas. Our houseman are a support system for the service and management teams to ensure that Echo Lake provides the best service possible to our membership.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through on direction and tasks assigned.
- Ability to focus on attention to details and work in a timely manner to complete tasks.
- Perform job functions with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
- Adapt room sets or equipment required easily and in an accommodating manner.
- Ability to exert physical effort in the transportation and placement of tables, chairs, dance floor, podium, PA system, chafing dishes and any other equipment used.
- Maintain daily knowledge of scheduled group functions, times and locations.
- Use correct cleaning chemicals and products for all equipment.
- Handle and transport all equipment to prevent damage and injury.
- Review BEO sheets daily with Banquet Manger and Dining Room Manager for accuracy and any changes. Check with supervisor throughout shift for updates.
- Retrieve clean linen and skirting as needed. Organize skirting and linen room to maintain proper ordering levels and unnecessary linen usage.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization and inventory of prop room items and Lower Lobby Storage Items.
- Maintain inventory of equipment including chafers, china, glassware and silverware. Key items such as water glasses, fork and spoons to be done monthly.
- Check furniture and lamps to ensure that all are in good working condition.
- Alert management of any equipment needed or shortage.
- Ensure that public space such as the Lobby and Dining Rooms are in appropriate condition: all lights working, no broken chairs, scuff marks on doors or walls.
- Assist housekeeping staff with any cleaning duties that are needed.
- Accommodate any guest requests for room or set up changes and coordinate with supervisor to ensure that the changes are consistent with host request.
- Handle any guest complaints with instant pacification and alert supervisor immediately.
- Report any damage to equipment or building to supervisor immediately 20.) Complete assigned side duties according to procedure.
- Check out with supervisor at end of the day to ensure that all work has been completed correctly and no further changes need to be made to the room sets.
- Respond to any immediate needs or requests made by service team.
- Accommodate any guest requests for room or set up changes and coordinate with supervisor to ensure that the changes are consistent with host request.
- Perform all duties, demands and responsibilities as assigned, beyond this job description.
Long-Term Objectives:
- Mantain clean and orderly dining room and event space at all times.
- Participate in regular training sessions as instructed.
- Streamline the setup and breakdown process to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to elevated levels of member satisfaction.
- Explore opportunities to cross train in other positions (i.e., busser, runner, server, etc.).
Working Conditions:
- Regular work requires a great deal of sitting, standing, lifting, bending and stretching.
- Must be able to stand for a minimum of 10 hours at a given time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Must have open availability (nights, morning, weekends, and holidays.)
