Job summary

Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is hiring for a full-time housekeeping/maintenance roles in Boston, MA. The position runs Monday–Friday, 2:30pm–11:00pm, with union representation by 1199SEIU.

Responsibilities include floor care, cleaning various clinic areas, trash removal, window washing and outdoor maintenance; OSHA compliance and trainings required. The organization emphasizes equitable access to care and a supportive work environment; benefits include health, dental and vision

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent work experience.
• Housekeeping experience preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to clearly communicate.
• Must be self-motivated and able to complete tasks with little supervision.
• Ability to take direction and work well in a team.
• Overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum cleaning, mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors.
• Trash removal.
• Clean lobby areas and restrooms.
• Clean various areas in clinic.
• Clean common areas.
• Window washing.
• Clean and maintain outside areas.
• Snow removal.
• Follow OSHA regulations and attend trainings.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. This position requires the ability to work independently within a team environment. The employee must be able to continuously assess the building needs regarding clean up or maintenance and report these needs to the supervisor. Must be able to take direction well and be flexible in meeting the changing housekeeping and maintenance needs of the building.

Compensation and Benefits:

• The compensation increases based on years of experience and ranges from $22.25 -$35.60 per hour.

Benefits are prorated for part-time employees.
