GermBlast Housekeeping Team Lead - Amarillo, TX

Position Summary:

The Housekeeping Team Lead provides hands‑on leadership and support to GermBlast Housekeepers, ensuring assigned areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition at all times. This position works closely with the Housekeeping Manager to coordinate daily housekeeping activities, monitor cleaning quality, provide guidance and training to housekeeping staff, and ensure compliance with facility standards, infection‑control practices, and safety requirements. The Housekeeping Team Lead serves as a working leader and is responsible for assisting with daily assignments, addressing routine operational needs, supporting team members, and communicating concerns or deficiencies to the Housekeeping Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Support:
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership and direction to housekeeping staff within assigned areas.
  • Assist the Housekeeping Manager with onboarding and training of new housekeeping employees.
  • Serve as a resource and point of contact for team members regarding cleaning procedures, work assignments, and facility expectations.
  • Lead by example by consistently demonstrating professionalism, reliability, proper cleaning techniques, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to employees and communicate performance concerns to the Housekeeping Manager.
  • Help promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
Daily Operations and Scheduling:
  • Assist with coordinating daily housekeeping assignments to ensure adequate coverage of assigned areas.
  • Monitor completion of assigned cleaning duties and reassign tasks as needed to maintain service levels.
  • Communicate staffing, attendance, supply, equipment, and operational concerns to the Housekeeping Manager.
  • Assist with coverage during staffing shortages, call‑offs, or high‑volume periods as needed.
  • Ensure housekeeping staff follow established schedules, cleaning frequencies, and facility‑specific procedures.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Conduct routine walkthroughs and inspections of assigned areas to verify cleaning quality and completion of required tasks.
  • Ensure cleaning activities meet or exceed GermBlast, facility, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Identify and promptly communicate cleaning deficiencies or infection‑control concerns to the Housekeeping Manager and appropriate facility personnel.
  • Assist with implementing corrective actions and following up to ensure deficiencies are resolved.
  • Support compliance with infection prevention and control practices, including proper cleaning and disinfection procedures.
Training and Safety:
  • Reinforce proper cleaning, disinfecting, and infection‑control procedures with housekeeping staff.
  • Assist with training employees on the safe use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure employees follow facility safety, hazard communication, infection‑control, and PPE requirements.
  • Promote safe work practices and immediately report accidents, injuries, hazards, or unsafe conditions.
  • Assist the Housekeeping Manager in maintaining a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
Inventory and Equipment:
  • Monitor supplies and equipment in assigned areas and communicate replenishment needs to the Housekeeping Manager.
  • Help ensure cleaning supplies are properly stored, labeled, and used according to manufacturer and facility requirements.
  • Ensure housekeeping equipment is properly operated, cleaned, stored, and maintained.
  • Report damaged, malfunctioning, or unsafe equipment promptly.
Communication and Administrative Support:
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with the Housekeeping Manager, housekeeping staff, facility personnel, and other representatives.
  • Assist with maintaining inspection, training, and other required housekeeping records.
  • Communicate daily operational updates, staffing concerns, quality issues, and other relevant information to the Housekeeping Manager.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Assist the Housekeeping Manager with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Previous housekeeping, environmental services, custodial, healthcare, or related experience preferred. Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and work effectively with a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of general housekeeping and cleaning practices; healthcare experience preferred.
  • Understanding of infection prevention, cleaning and disinfection procedures, and workplace safety practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high‑quality cleaning standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and respond appropriately to changing operational needs.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and facility‑specific procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with hospital personnel, coworkers, patients, visitors, and other facility representatives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a healthcare environment.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use scheduling, timekeeping, or other workplace systems as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or additional hours as needed.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds for extended periods. Must be able to perform repetitive cleaning tasks and operate standard housekeeping equipment. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, infectious materials, and healthcare environments may occur; employees must follow all facility infection‑control, PPE, and safety guidelines.

Pay Range: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
