Position: Housekeeping Supervisor

Department: Housekeeping

Division: Rooms

Position Purpose: To supervise all Housekeeping staff members within the company. Required to ensure the cleanliness of all guest rooms, public areas, service areas and offices as well as additional areas under the department’s jurisdiction. Inspect rooms, equipment and supplies. Ensures that all staff members are performing in accordance with and adhering to the company and department practices, policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Accountable for monitoring, measuring and following up on all work productivity performed by the Housekeeping staff members, communicating any areas below established departmental standards to the Housekeeping Manager.
  • Ensures and is accountable for the cleanliness of all public areas and that all work is done properly, safely and in accordance with the established standards.
  • Performs daily area and equipment inspections and complete, for submission, inspection forms to improve the quality control of the service standards.
  • Responsible for completing daily work schedules as well as logging daily special projects, completed or not, which improve property appearance and provide a clean safe environment for the guest and employee.
  • Perform daily pre-shift briefing and/or scheduled meeting with Housekeeping staff.
  • Provide additional orientation, training and support of new and/or existing staff.
  • Reports to the Director of Housekeeping any/all issues involved with statements and discipline of any staff members failing to complete assigned duties and/or adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates and request overtime, as needed with the approval of the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Evaluates the need and schedules all equipment repairs and coordinates pick-up and delivery of all equipment serviced or needing service.
  • Inspect and report all cleaning and/or service deficiencies, by preparing, based on inspection forms and assignment sheets.
  • Empower departmental staff to accommodate other staff and guest needs and/or request within the scope of the position.
  • Provide regular feedback, using established communication tools, regarding staff, special request and/or required job responsibilities and guest needs or services.
  • Perform formal performance evaluation appraisals as required in coordination with the Director of Housekeeping.
  • Assist with setting and evaluating service and/or performance standards based on completeness and timeliness. Promote teamwork and interdepartmental approach to meeting established services and departmental standards.
  • Promote and assist with maintaining an effective and productive working relationship with all company departments. Have basic understanding of the duties and functions of other departments activities and how they effect or interact with the Housekeeping Department.
  • Notify the Director of Housekeeping and/or Security of any unusual events, circumstances, missing items or alleged thefts.
  • Effectively and efficiently investigate reports and follow-up on staff members and guest accidents.
  • Respond to all emergency situations.
  • Implement and enforce all departmental policies and procedures associated with daily operations, guest complaints, lost and found and safety.
  • Perform other job related duties as requested by management.
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively read, write and speak in English, both in person and telephonically, when dealing with management, staff, members and guest. Excellent organizational skills, able to function effectively under pressure. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other departments and staff members. Must have a working knowledge of departments and staff associated with cleaning procedures, policies established by the department and company, equipment and supplies utilized. Demonstrate the ability to effectively listen, administer, instruction and discipline.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum One (1) year hotel experience required. Fluency in speaking a second language, Spanish preferred. Computer operating experience preferred.

Reporting Relationship: This position reports to the Director of Housekeeping.

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt
