Job summary

Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale seeks an experienced Head of Housekeeping to lead the HKSP team across clubhouses, offices, and facilities. You will supervise 11–15 staff, train, schedule, inspect, and ensure world-class cleanliness and safety standards in a resort-style environment.

Responsibilities include coordinating events, managing supplies, performing weekly inspections, and reporting to the Director/Asst. Director of Housekeeping.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in club, hotel, or resort housekeeping.
  • Excellent English communication, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to inspect and supervise work of team members.
  • Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee organization, direction, and supervision of 11–15 HKSP team members.
  • Supervise, instruct, plan, and assign work; set priorities and inspect progress.
  • Lead training on proper use of supplies and equipment; enforce safety & PPE rules.
  • Maintain stock and inventory of supplies; coordinate vehicle/service needs.
  • Perform weekly building inspections; coordinate events and setups.
  • Coordinate floor and carpet-cleaning programs and seasonal projects.
  • Report unsafe conditions; participate in safety program.

Job description

Summary: Responsible for maintaining all of Desert Mountain facilities and areas in a world-class fashion in cleanliness and aesthetics under the direction of the Director & Assistant Director of Housekeeping and in accordance with Desert Mountain Club operations. Oversee the cleaning of all Clubhouses, office and maintenance buildings, golf course restrooms, Sales Center, and development properties held by Desert Mountain Properties.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned.Responsible for the organization, direction, and supervision of 11-15 team members of the HKSP Department, under the direction of the Director &, Asst. Dir. of HSKP.Supervise, instruct, plan, and assign work to the HSKP team, and assist with work priorities, i.e., detailing of all buildings, and inspect as often as possible, not to exceed two weeks in duration between “detail”; this includes (ceilings, vents, light fixtures, room high and low corners, skylights, door sills, door tops, tops of decorative and operational furniture.)Perform HSKP team training on the proper use of supplies and equipment.Maintain the stock and inventory of supplies and equipment.Read and inform HSKP team members of the content from the nightly work logs.Perform weekly building inspections with management.Coordinates, helps and supervises the setup for events.Attend catering meetings to stay informed of upcoming events.Coordinate the floor and carpet-cleaning program.Create, supervise, and complete summer cleaning projects, according to course and clubhouse closures.Inspect and approve all work done by the HSKP team prior to leaving each area/section of the building or department.Daily inspect all HSKP department’s motor vehicles and golf carts and assist in coordinating vehicle service maintenance and cleaning.Attend all scheduled safety meetings and be active within the safety program.Report unsafe conditions to ensure a safe environment for members and teammates.Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring employees wear PPE when working with chemicals.Initiate the reporting of incidents or accidents to Workers’ Compensation carrier within 24 hours.Must be aware of all security concerns during shift and immediately inform the Asst. Dir. of HSKP confidently via letter or phone upon discovery.Responsible for securing the building, i.e. lock all doorsCommunicate, and update Asst. Dir. of HSKP on areas in need of attention, supply needs, equipment repairs, and ways to improve housekeeping duties.Attend any/all scheduled meetings.Assist with performance evaluations.Assume the duties of Head of Housekeeping during the Asst. Directors absence.Other duties as assigned by management.Experience:A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a leader or in a supervisory role required.Prior housekeeping experience in a club, hotel, or resort.Education / Certifications:High school diploma or general education diploma (GED).Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred but not required.Qualifications:Ability to communicate proficiently in the English language (both oral and written) and compose grammatically correct written documents and emails.Bi-lingual preferred.Knowledge of cleaning and care of floors/carpets, and the use of equipment/chemicals used to perform all housekeeping duties.Excellent leadership skills & building teams.Ability to inspect and supervise the work of team members.Always represent impeccable and professional appearance.Takes ownership.Team player & strong interpersonal skills.Must have a sense of urgency, problem-solving skills, organized, excel at planning & prioritizing daily tasks.Must have patience, and the ability to actively listen, and easily comprehend the members’ needs.Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook).Work Conditions:Required to climb ladders and stairs – RegularlyRequired to work with industrial chemicals – FrequentlyExposed to extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather) – OccasionallyRequired to be on feet for long periods of time.Noise level in the work environment – Usually moderateRequired to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Physical Demands:Required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, and/or kneel – FrequentlyRequired to talk or hear – ConstantlyRequired to push, pull, lift, carry, and/or move up to 75 pounds – FrequentlyRequired to sit – OccasionallyRequired specific vision abilities – close vision and distance visionRequired to operate a motor vehicle or other vehicle.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
