Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of housekeeping activities needed to maintain a clean and healthy environment for patient care.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide orientation and training for new personnel.
2. Manage staff, including hiring, development, training, performance management, and communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.
3. Perform routine and specific cleaning and custodial tasks to maintain sanitation and cleanliness of the facility.
4. Provide guidance and direction to staff, fostering mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
5. Lead environmental and/or housekeeping services for the facility.
6. Ensure work assignments and cleaning schedules are followed as outlined for each shift and area.
7. Maintain all areas of the facility through proper cleaning and disinfecting.
8. Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule.
9. Perform cleaning duties in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations, laws, and organizational policies to maintain a sanitary environment.
10. Maintain adequate cleaning supplies for the department or unit.

Additional Tasks:

• Prepare rooms for meetings, including arranging decorations and furniture for facility functions.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least two years of housekeeping experience in a commercial, clinic, or healthcare environment required.
• Knowledge of sanitation techniques and equipment operation; training in universal precautions and infection control preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Valid state driver's license, if required by the facility.
• CPR, de-escalation, and restraint certification required (training provided upon hire).
• First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements.
