Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of housekeeping activities needed to maintain a clean and healthy environment for patient care.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide orientation and training for new personnel.
• Manage staff including hiring, development, training, performance management, and communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.
• Perform routine and specific cleaning and custodial tasks to maintain the facility's cleanliness and sanitation.
• Provide guidance and direction to staff, fostering mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
• Lead environmental and housekeeping services for the facility.
• Ensure work assignments and cleaning schedules are followed as outlined for each shift and area.
• Maintain all areas of the facility with proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
• Maintain a cleaning schedule.
• Perform cleaning duties in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations, laws, and organizational policies to ensure a sanitary environment.
• Maintain adequate cleaning supplies for the department or unit.

• Prepare rooms for meetings, including arranging decorations and furniture for facility functions.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least two years of housekeeping experience in a commercial, clinical, or healthcare environment required.
• Knowledge of sanitation techniques and equipment operation; training in universal precautions and infection control preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Valid state driver's license if required by the facility.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training provided upon hire and available through the facility).
• First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements.
