Job summary

The Hotel at the University of Maryland is seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Supervisor to manage daily operations for housekeeping and laundry. The role ensures guests experience a clean, welcoming environment and oversees inventory, training, and procedures to boost efficiency and satisfaction.

This full-time position reports to the Executive Housekeeper, with AM/PM shifts, and a hourly pay of $20. The job requires leadership, reliability, and a strong commitment to quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Previous housekeeping experience in a hotel setting; supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of housekeeping staff, including room attendants and housepersons.
• Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness and brand standards are consistently met.
• Assign daily tasks and adjust staffing levels based on occupancy and operational needs.
• Train, coach, and motivate team members to maintain high performance and service standards.
• Assist with scheduling, payroll review, and timekeeping.
• Address guest requests and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
• Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and OSHA standards.
• Maintain inventory of housekeeping supplies and coordinate with management on ordering needs.
• Collaborate with other departments to support overall hotel operations and guest satisfaction.
• Assist in deep cleaning projects and special assignments as needed.

Position Summary

This position ensures that our guests experience a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment throughout their stay. The supervisor is responsible for coordinating and monitoring housekeeping staff's work, addressing any issues that arise, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service. Additionally, the Housekeeping Supervisor helps manage inventory, trains new employees, and implements procedures to enhance efficiency and guest satisfaction.
