Job summary

York JCC is seeking a Housekeeping Lead to manage daily operations across multiple sites. You will lead the housekeeping team, coordinate shift transitions, ensure cleaning standards, and collaborate with the Maintenance Team to support facility operations.

The role emphasizes mentoring staff, maintaining safety protocols, and communicating effectively with members and staff. This is a full-time, on-site position aligned with the JCC mission and values.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of housekeeping experience or equivalent.
• Demonstrated leadership and reliability.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Clear communication and ability to guide peers professionally.
• Ability to fill in or adjust schedule as needed for emergency coverage.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist with scheduling coverage or calling in staff for urgent shift needs.
• Support orienting, training and mentoring new team members.
• Monitor and help maintain cleaning standards across shifts.
• Proactively identify supply, safety, or facility issues.
• Provide input to Lead and Facilities Director regarding team performance or concerns.
• Respond to member questions and facility needs professionally and timely.
• Assist with complex cleaning equipment or high-traffic event transitions.
• Monitor supplies, conduct weekly inventory, and submit orders to Purchasing.
