Job description

The Housekeeping Lead is responsible for the day-to-day personnel management of the cleaning staff. This is an on-site position combined with office work. The Housekeeping Manager oversees the organization of daily cleaning operations and performs hands-on tasks, including stepping in for staff when needed.

Required Experience

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership abilities.
  • Ability to train staff on company policies and responsibilities.
  • Sound problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment, and tools, with the ability to communicate and teach this to staff.
  • Ability to identify hazards and report to management.
  • Ability to motivate staff to provide quality service.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow client directions concisely.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure operational and safety procedures are followed.
  • Establish schedules and assign daily tasks.
  • Manage customer complaints regarding cleaning services.
  • Inspect and approve staff work performance.
  • Ensure cleaning meets contract specifications.
  • Manage and order cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain department budget and monitor expenses, producing reports.
  • Train and coach employees, managing work hours.
  • Arrange maintenance and repair of cleaning equipment.
  • Handle administrative tasks and paperwork.
  • Produce order forms for equipment, uniforms, and materials.
  • Stay informed about developments in cleaning equipment and materials.
  • Strive for continual improvement of the organization.

Working Conditions

This role requires standing for long periods, effective communication, and the ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for handling equipment and documents. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds is expected. The environment involves moderate noise and may require travel between locations.
