Job summary

Birchwood is hiring a Housekeeping / Laundry Aide. Duties include cleaning rooms, offices, and patient areas, sanitizing surfaces, and handling laundry in a rehabilitation/nursing setting. Multiple shifts are available, including day, evening, night, and weekends.

Strong procedural skills and the ability to read and follow guidelines are required. The role offers full-time and part-time options with benefits and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Clean residents’ rooms, offices, and waiting areas with appropriate cleaners.
• Sanitize floors, equipment, and furniture per infection-control policies.
• Sweep, mop, and buff floors as needed.
• Operate cleaning equipment and manage waste per procedures.
• Collect laundry, sort, wash, and dry residents’ laundry, and fold linens.

Duties of Housekeeping / Laundry Aides

• Clean residents’ rooms, surgical areas, offices, and waiting areas using cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
• Clean and sanitize floors, equipment, and furniture according to infection-control policies.
• Sweep, mop, and buff floors as needed.
• Operate various types of cleaning equipment.
• Handle and dispose of waste using standard procedures.
• Clean mattresses and beds according to established procedures
• Collect laundry from residents’ areas and place it in designated locations.
• Collect, sort, wash, and dry residents’ laundry.
• Fold, stack, and distribute clean linens, personal laundry, and hospital gowns.
• Assist in keeping the laundry department neat, clean, and orderly.
• Label clothing and personal resident items
• Maintain all cleaning equipment and supplies according to prescribed standards.
• Monitor inventory of supplies such as paper towels, soap, toilet paper

Qualifications for Housekeeping / Laundry Aides:

• Ability to understand and follow procedures, work assignments, instructions, warnings, and labels.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Adequate strength and endurance to meet the strenuous physical demands of such responsibilities as loading and unloading washers and dryers; coordination necessary to fold clothing items and linen.
• Color vision to ascertain stains and separate-colored garments from white.
